Competition Manager Role

The Croydon Competition Manager is Mrs Elaine South. She works with the 3 Croydon School Sports Partnerships and can be contacted through the Contacts page on this website. 

Essentially the Competition Manager's role is to manage and co-ordinate the planning and implementation of a programme of inter-school competition within the School Sport Partnership (SSP) using the national school competition framework as the basis. Working with existing sporting provision and create further opportunities for children, from Key Stage 1 through to 4, to compete in sport, in an organised, friendly and high-quality environment.

Specific duties include:

To manage and co-ordinate the organisation and delivery of a programme of inter-school competitions, ensuring that these are based on the national framework and associated NGB and Schools Association national templates and also address local priorities.
 
To support the School Sport Co-ordinator/PLT network within their SSP to ensure that they provide high quality schools competitions

To liaise with the PDM to ensure that the competition programme supports and compliments the key objectives identified in the Partnership Development Plan
 
To manage and support any CPD for the SSCo/PLT’s associated with the delivery of high quality schools competitions.

To ensure that the competition programme is linked with the equivalent programmes delivered by other SSP’s within the CSP/local area and liaise with the County Sports Partnership to ensure that the programme also fits into the county context.

To undertake liaison with the County Sports Partnership and National Governing Bodies and Schools Associations at County level to ensure that the competition programme delivers the sports national framework, contributes to the sports player pathway and develops appropriate exit routes for the young people into community sport.
 
To ensure that the competition programme is linked effectively with activity undertaken by the local School Sports Association, where applicable.

To ensure that the competition programme is effectively linked with other strands of PESSCL and other relevant national programmes. These include the following:


  • Step into Sport (placement opportunities for community volunteers)
    Gifted and Talented ( Multi-skill Academies)
    Club Links ( Multi-skill clubs and NGB club development work)
    Community Sports Coaches
    NGB LTAD work
    Partnership Youth Games

To manage and co-ordinate the monitoring and evaluation of projects associated with the programmes.

Competing - what's it all about?

Year 5 & 6 Cross Country: September - October 2007

The first of the new primary sports competition's organised by Croydon's Competition Manager Elaine South:

The competition consists of teams of 5 boys and 5 girls from each primary school running 1500 metres cross country races, followed by a mixed team - 2 boys and 2 girls - from each of the teams competing in a cross country relay. Points are given for each of the three events and the winning side of each stage compete in the next stage.

Stage 1 - Partnership Family Festivals - Monday 24th to Friday 28th September

Stage 2 - Partnership Festivals - Week begining Monday 1st October

Stage 3 - Borough Festival - Week begining Monday 15th October
