South London Boccia Competition 2009
Written by Elaine south

The South London annual Boccia Competiton took place on Friday 9th January 2009 at Canon's Leisure Centre, Mitcham. The event was organised by Elaine South, Croydon Competition Manager. It saw twelve schools from across the South London region competing for titles in the Senior, Junior and Ramp competitions

Students from special schools across the region arrived on a freezing morning to be greeted by BTEC students from  Coulsdon College. The young Leaders had taken a course of Boccia umpiring and were to put their new found skills into practice.

The Coulsdon College students were easily identified in the bright orange t-shirts. They welcomed the players and headed a few practice sessions for children from Gresham Primary, Atwood and Benson Primary schools in Croydon. These pupils had not really had any previous experience but wanted the chance to represent their school at sport for the first time.
